About Research

Bucktoe Creek Preserve is composed of a variety of habitats and is equipped with high-end weather equipment making it a perfect location for natural systems research. A real-time Delaware Environmental Observing System, which gathers and archives meteorological conditions, is located in one of our upper meadows. Data collection at this station began in January 2008. A similar weather station sits in one of our oldest woodlands where it measures conditions under the canopy. This is useful for correlating stream response to precipitation within the watershed.
